2011 Resolution to get better organized.

Many of you know that I study and do my best to apply an organizational discipline called Getting Things Done from David Allen. One of the practices I am trying to perfect is a weekly review, where I review all of the open projects and tasks and set priorities for each week. I’m making progress, but still working on this. I get a weekly reminder from the folks at the David Allen Company, www.davidco.com, and I thought the one I just received was very insightful. Here's the quote:
The strength of GTD awareness and ability is knowing that the best time to do a Weekly Review is when you least feel like doing it. The strange force that seems to make these simple but powerful habits so challenging is that we think we need to have the result of the behavior, before we can engage in the behavior.
- We feel we need to be in control before we can plan,
- we need to be organized before we can get organized, and
- we need to know what’s going on before we can sit down to figure out what’s going on.
Strange, aren’t we?
Why, yes, I think we are strange. Do you suffer from any of these complications? I know I do, and I laughed out loud when I read the quote. Enjoy.
